Bozeman Senior Center Travel & Trips: 

The Bozeman Senior Center has provided senior travelers with an extensive choice of local, national, and international trips for over 25 years. All of the Bozeman Senior Center trips are escorted by an experienced member of the Senior Center to provide a safe and secure atmosphere and greatest enjoyment by the traveler. Local Trips of 1 to 4 days duration have been to attractions such as: the Charles M Russell Museum and Giant Springs in Great Falls, the Accordion Festival in Phillipsburg, Jet-boating up Hells Canyon on the Snake River in Idaho, The Playmill Theater in West Yellowstone, Firehouse 5 Playhouse in Livingston, the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody Wyoming, the Charlie Russell Chew Choo in Lewistown, Holiday Lights at the Coeur d' Alene Resort in Idaho, Entertainment in Jackpot Nevada and Vigilante Players in Virginia City.

In the last year, we have enjoyed one day trips to Tippet Rise in eastern Montana, a scenic motorcoach ride on the breathtaking Beartooth Highway, a two day trip to Ft. Benton, MT (where we stayed at the historic Grand Union Hotel and visited great museums), a trip to the Virgele Ferry and a tour of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls. On another fun day trip, we went to Yellowstone Park where we had lunch at the Lake Lodge and a boat ride on Yellowstone Lake.   

Longer National Trips have included: Branson Missouri, Autumn New England Back Roads, California Coast, Alaska, Florida, Deep South, Seattle, Texas Panhandle, Amish Pennsylvania and Southwestern US.

International travel includes: Croatia, Galapagos, Greece, India, Spain, Australia, Canadian Rockies, Copper Canyon Mexico, Ireland, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Austria, Scandinavian Countries, Panama Canal Cruise, Mexican Riviera Cruise, Africa and a Caribbean Cruise.

Current Trips (listed below) are arranged to a variety of interesting and beautiful locations. Cost of travel is determined for each trip based on bids from airlines and bus companies, hotels and motels, food service providers and professional travel agencies when appropriate. The cost of a particular trip is included in the travel itinerary for that trip. All itineraries are available at the Senior Center.

TRAVEL 2020:



The dates changed slightly from when we first presented this trip, so check out the new dates and itinerary for this fantastic trip to Japan. The trip includes going to Tokyo, so we will be there just a few months before the Olympics begin. This 14-day trip travels to Tokyo, Hakone, Takayama, Kanazawa, Hiroshima and Kyoto. From Lake Cruises, to Cable Car rides, to the Bullet train to Hiroshima, Tea Ceremony, Geisha show and lots more, it is going to be an amazing adventure! THE BEST OF NEW ORLEANS  March 29 - April 2, 2020

Fly to the Big Easy, the birthplace of jazz- New Orleans, Louisiana. We will spend five days enjoying all the city has to offer. Spend four nights at the Bienville House, a charming boutique motel right on the edge of the French Quarter. We will do lots of fun sightseeing, from Jackson Square to the National World War II Museum (which, if you haven't been to this museum, it is a must). We'll do a Cajun Swamp Tour and explore the primitive beauty of the moss-draped Cypress trees, American Alligators and abundant wildlife. We will go to the New Orleans School of Cooking and have dinner and travel to Oak Alley Plantation and walk through the home and grounds imagining what it was like in the early days. We will do a lunch cruise on the Steamboat Natchez and that evening take in a live jazz show at Maison Bourbon, and on another morning we will participate in a 70-year tradition with breakfast at Brennan's restaurant. Pick up an itinerary and read all about this trip to the Deep South in the Springtime when the Azaleas are in full bloom.


Fly to Philadelphia for a five night stay in the "City of Brotherly Love". Visit Independence Hall to see the Liberty Bell and the National Constitution Center, highlighting the US Constitution. Tour Valley Forge National Historic Park. There will be two fantastic DuPont mansions and gardens that we visit- Nemours Mansion & Gardens (former estate of Alfred DuPont) which is a 105-room French chateau filled with beautiful antiques from the 1700's, and Longwood Gardens (former home of Pierre DuPont) which boasts one of the premier botanical gardens in the US, covering over 1,100 acres. We'll go to Amish Country and do a tour of an Amish home in Lancaster County, enjoy an Amish family style dinner (including their popular Shoofly Pie) and see the beautiful quilts made by the very talented Amish quilters. You may even choose to purchase one. Another highlight of this trip is a visit to the Hershey's Chocolate World in Hershey, Pennsylvania. For all of you chocolate lovers, this is a place you won't want to miss.

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK  August 17-20, 2020

Travel by motorcoach from Bozeman to Whitefish, Montana, stopping for lunch in Missoula at the Montana Club on the way up. Spend three wonderful nights at the stunning 4 Diamond Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Each room has a balcony and fireplace for your enjoyment. We will ride the historic Red Jammer Bus on the Going to the Sun Highway, enjoying all the breathtaking scenery on this 50-mile long awe inspiring road. There will also be a beautiful serene boat ride on MacDonald Lake as well as a stop at the visitors center at MacDonald Pass. Join us and enjoy all that Glacier Park has to offer.

SPECTACULAR SCANDINAVIA  July 30-August 12, 2020

This 14-day trip takes you to an incredibly beautiful part of the world. You will fly to Copenhagen, Denmark, then travel to Stockholm, Oslo, Norway, on the Flam Railway, one of the steepest train rides in the world, on to the Briksdal Glacier on a traditional "Troll Car" through the heart of Norway's dramatic Fjord region. See the Viking Ship Museum, Stave Church, Vigeland Park and the picturesque city of Bergen, to name a few of the sights you will enjoy on this very exciting trip.

SPOTLIGHT ON NEW YORK CITY  December 2-6, 2020

EXCITING NEW YORK CITY FOR THE HOLIDAYS! Fly to New York City and stay at the beautiful Sheraton, New York, right on Time Square. Highlights: RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL ROCKETTES PERFORMANCE, a trip to Rockefeller Center to see the beautifully lit Christmas tree, a boat ride around New York Harbor to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, breakfast at Ellen's Stardust Diner, visit Greenwich Village, Wall Street and Chinatown, see the Empire State Building & Central Park and also tour the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. This is a wonderful trip to the CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS.


Fly to Atlanta, Georgia for this fun winter getaway. Some of the highlights will include: The Flat Rock Playhouse in Henderson, NC and also the beautiful Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, NC, where you will enjoy dinner at the mansion and a candlelight tour. Have a guided tour of Smoky Mountain National Park, time to enjoy Gatlinburg and a Country Tonight evening show. You will spend a day at Dolly Parton's Dollywood Park complete with a Festival of Lights motorcoach ride and an evening comedy show. On the last night, you will attend the Smoky Mountain Opry evening show.

Near Fairfield, MT, we will see thousands of snow geese feeding in the area. 


Wonderful live musical production of "Footloose". We leave the Senior Center on a Karst Stage motorcoach for West Yellowstone, MT. Once we arrive, there will be time to browse, eat dinner and maybe go to the Grizzly Bear Discovery Center before the pre-show begins at the Playmill Theater. We have amazing seats for the show and it will be a really fun evening being entertained by wonderful artists. 



Visit Tizer Botanic Gardens, tour the Montana Capitol building and visit the Cathedral of Saint Helena.

BEARTOOTH HIGHWAY  Monday, July 27, 2020 

Travel by motorcoach to Red Lodge, MT. After a delicious pizza and all the trimmings lunch (included), we set off for a fantastic, comfortable ride over the Beartooth Highway. Sharon Eversman will be our very informative guide as we summit at 10,947 feet. Sharon has taught field courses on the Beartooth Plateau including weather, ecology, climate and biology for over 10 years. We will drive through Cooke City and Mammoth before returning to Bozeman that evening.


Travel via motorcoach to the Fishtail area, in eastern Montana. Our tour will take us on 4 passenger vans for a 2 hour tour around the 11,000 acres of land that make up Tippet Rise. We will get out of the vans at each of 6 locations to see the fantastic sculptures. Each van will have a narrator to share with us the story of Tippet Rise and the history of each of the sculptures. There will be a short time after the tour to walk to a concert area and the school house, both very interesting. After our visit to Tippet Rise, we will go to the Absarokee to a new restaurant, Wild Flower Kitchen, for lunch on your own. Then, we head back to Bozeman, amazed at how this very interesting venue came to Montana.

CHARLIE RUSSELL CHEW CHOO  September 12-13, 2020 

We will attend the Chokecherry Festival and then head over for a lovely ride on the Charlie Russell Chew Choo train, complete with a prime rib dinner and great entertainment. The group will  spend the night at the Yogo Inn. Then on Sunday, we will view all of the "What the Hay" entries and end our visit with the Utica Fair.


We will be going to the Mining Museum and the Butte Underground. Both places are fascinating and you will love this trip!


Travel to Gates of the Mountains, located near Helena, MT. We will board the Canyon Voyager boat for a very well narrated ride through this beautiful, historic canyon. A delicious buffet dinner is included at the marina when we return from the boat ride.   


Motorcoach through Yellowstone Park to the Yellowstone Lake Lodge for lunch, with a boat ride on Yellowstone Lake after lunch. See lots of wildlife along the way.


This is a 2-Day trip starting with Ft. Benton and overnight in Havre.
